Convict Lake Winter Maternity Shoot

Convict Lake Winter Maternity Shoot

Mammoth is having a record breaking snow fall record this year. Robin felt optimistic about this.

“Does this mean that Baby Sierra will become a world class skier?” he asked. I didn’t think so.

Instead I wondered if this was more evidence that this was absolutely the worst time to have a baby. Really I should have had a baby 3 years ago at the height of the pandemic, when societal influences kept me cloistered indoors. Instead I’m having a baby now, after a big promotion and the most devastating winter to take a season off of skiing. (Massive FOMO ensues).

Still, I wanted to come to mammoth in my heavily pregnant state to enjoy the scenery and in general take some time off of work before the baby comes. I had four days to sleep in every day, drink decaf coffee in bed, and take easy off leash dog walks through the snow. It was wonderful to take a break from my home improvement projects, my nesting, and my endless list building. Mammoths slower pace of life is infectious. I am hoping I can bring this calm back to San Diego (a place that no one ever called a bustling city).

These photos were taken at convict lake with much the support of many passersbys.

This is what I looked like when scouting locations for our shoot
