This is awesome. The women they brought on were really big contributors to the industry, and I have definately heard of thier projects. The women they profiled (or blurbed, is that a word?) were Jess Lee, Hilary Mason, Kati London, Caterina Fake, Julie Larson-Green, and Stacy Brown-Philpot. And they had great clothes and hair in their pictures too.
You see, I always thought that the reason that women in tech aren't more front in center in these magazines was because glossy magazine writers studied the more liberal of arts in college. Why bother writing about what you don't know? They still managed to take a bit of an outsiders perspective on the whole issue though. I was a little put off by one of the sample prompts being "she loves being a geek because...". Maybe nerd, not geek. Geek is just so... ugly.
I am glad. I hope this in addition to all the fodder I ran across before about women in business isn't just a fall 2011 fad. If smart female engineers are going to be sexy, they definately need at least three pages in a glossy fashion magazine.
