I decided to run a marathon.
I've been running around a lot and its been really good. Maybe I am one of those crazy people that needs a goal to feel like I have a meaning in life, but running a marathon just feels like the next thing. I don't want to do that thing where you have to stay mentally engaged while you run and check your splits with rubber wristlets. Its so much more painful to be fast.
I want to have time for myself and use it to really accomplish something I never thought I could do. When I was training for the Carlsbad half marathon back in 2008 the half-marathon seemed like the impossible distance.
Now, after having much less training under my belt I decided to run a marathon. Now that I think about it, I probably want to do this because I read Born To Run. Being told that being a runner is just as natural as eating and sleeping gives me the urge to be normal and go run a marathon already. I'm as gullible as it gets. Now that I'm writing this it feels eerily similar to that time I stopped eating meat for the rest of my life because I saw a movie once.
I registered for the Rock and Roll Marathon for June 2nd. Health-wise I am a little worried. I reached an all time low the other week when I passed out during my easy peesy 3 mile run to the mall. A marathon is probably not something I should attempt when I am concerned about exercise induced asthma.
Whatever. It feels right. Its the little things that are improving with daily running. I wake up earlier. I drink more water. I am more focused at work. I rest easier. I spend less money. The more I run, the happier and more satisfied I am with my life.
I hope I never stop running.
So now I am in this predicament where I have to train for a run or something.
It looks like Runner's World is making people pay for the training plans since 2008. Thats a shame because it worked out really well when I trained for the 2009 triple crown. Its not so bad that they decided to charge, but I can't for the life of me figure out how much it costs.
I went to MarathonRookie.com and found this training plan

I just find it highly implausible because I wouldn't be running that much. Its only 4 days a week and its still just 5ks even in the 15th week. I want to buy a marathon book but damn it, I just spent too much money on the actual race.
