Jeff Galloway says I should wait a week after running a marathon before scheduling another one. I'm happy to have that sort of limitation because I'd be planning races for the next four years if nothing stopped me.
The Foxy half marathon is too hard to resist. It is convenient and their grass roots are showing. I live really close to there so to make my 18 miler for the day, I am going to run to the starting line from my house and back.
The Navy Bay Bridge Run/Walk is only a 4 mile run. I've always wanted to run it and its a low key event for a great cause, MWR for our local military.
To make the 12 mile run for the day I'd have to run an extra 8 miles. I'd rather get it over earlier in the day because it gets freaking hot and I want to celebrate finishing with everyone. I plan to run 8 miles through point loma to the starting line before the race starts.
This is what the 8miler before the Navy Bay Bridge is going to look like.
Do you think you will want to do the Rock 'n' Roll San Diego AND the Bay Bridge Run/Walk this year? If you want to do this 8 miler before the Bay Bridge Race there, here is a link to the google maps directions for the map I show above. Let me know and we can run together... I am thinking that a 6 am start will give me sufficient time to get to the start position at 8am.
That is 3 local races leading up to the Rock 'n' Roll San Diego. I had to make some tough decisions. I also had the Coaster Run 10k through Knotts Berry Farm on March 10th on my Radar. It was only a week before the Six Tunnels to the Hoover Dam and the idea of getting a hotel just to run a Crappy race (yelp's words, not mine) didn't sound so good. And besides, I ran 6 miles yesterday big woop.
Deciding to do the Six Tunnels to Hoover Dam Half Marathon instead of the Hooley's to Hooley's half marathon was also a tough decision for me. Its a money thing. But I was sold as soon as Runners World had a feature about it AND thats a 3 day weekend for me.
