Eat-at-Home Challenge Day 56: Mashed Potatoes

Alex and I got a Bed Bath and Beyond coupon in the mail and went crazy. We bought a potato ricer and a mortar and pestle. I found this youtube video tutorial that manages to use both. Well, she took a while mincing when I just substituted the mortar and pestle.

This is the first time we have made mashed potatoes together! I can't believe I forgot how.

Cut the potatoes. That photo has three potatoes worth.  Boil 'em. Meanwhile, mortar up yourself 4 garlic cloves.

When the boiling has done the majority of your mashing for you, drain them in your colander. Then you rice those suckers like so. Ricing is a very satisfying feeling, especially when you have massive forearms like I do.

Mix in what you got, namely milk, salt, and butter. Then you've got a beautiful mound of starchy dinner goodness.
