I had a hankering for golden tofu since I had it wrapped in basil at an amazing vegan restaurant up in Manhattan Beach. So I googled golden tofu and hit the first link (available here).
I changed a few things so I think I am allowed to give my version
Ingredients:
Use 1 Block of tofu (14oz)Olive Oil
Sesame Seed
Fresh Basil
For the Sauce:
2 Tablespoons Honey
3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons of sesame oil
2 minced garlic cloves
Instructions
1) Roast ur sesame seeds if they aren't already
2) Drain and dry your tofu with a paper towel.
3) Fry the tofu with a frying pan and 2 tablespoons of olive oil until they are that golden color you like
4) Make the sauce. Put the sauce ingredients in a pan and heat it gently until they are immiscible. Set it aside.
5)After the tofu is nice and brown, remove from the frying pan and set on a paper towel. The towel will help get some excess oil off. Pour the sauce on it and sprinkle the sesame seeds on it.
I served it with potatoes and green beans. The Basil is also a nice touch if you have a basil plant laying around.
