A Sigma 10mm Fisheye

Test photo at Pizza Boss after Rock Climbing Today.
I went all in and finally bought a fisheye lens. Its a sigma 10mm f/2.8 that I got from a stranger on craigslist for $550. It was very well taken care of.

My new Sigma 10mm fisheye!
I paid a premium price for this lens. While my previous fishy adventures were with a nikon 10.5mm from Calumet Rentals, this one actually focuses with my Nikon D5000. The nikon lenses are far more common and actually not terribly cheaper.

This is the pivotal moment when I decide to give the nice lady money for the lens.
I actual removed some distortion by photoshops free transform tool in this image. To see how a fancy plugin would do this job, see below.

Pizza Boss!

For me, photography makes it easier to make memories. If I'm not careful, my memories are just my photographs. The ultra wide lens makes it easier for me to depict what it feels like to stand where I am standing. The distortion is beautiful, but having the option to straighten out the lines is like having multiple lenses. I get a fisheye and also an ultrawide lens sans distortion.

So, as per Ken Rockwell's recommendation, I also bought a rectilinear photoshop plugin, Fisheye Hemi.

Here are some photo before and after distortion correction!

The lady in the corner is actually standing up straight like a regular person.

Still doubting that I will get any use out of this fisheye? Check out Sergey Zaytsev's Flickr Profile. His portfolio is a high standard of what I could ever achieve.
