Fun with Fisheyes: Weekend in Review

We rented a Fisheye lens at Calumet for the weekend. I don't care what they say, fisheyes make absolutely beautiful photos and I can see how it can be useful as everyday lenses too.  I am a fisheye novice so a lot of good opportunities were missed. Whatever, it was so worth it.

a HUGE photo galley on the next page.
First we went to the Safari Wild Animal Park. You know, it may not have been the most perfect place to bring a fisheye. My inexperience had me blow the exposure way open so about 300 of my photos are devastatingly out of focus.

The only time my exposure didn't ruin the photo.

This photo would be about animals if we were using a different lens.

In the Aviary. Rocks are always so beautiful on film.

Alex and the Lorikeet posed for this.

This one is my favorite because the balloon looks like the sun.

It was so difficult to keep our fingers out of the shot.

That was the first day at the zoo. Saturday we felt tired so we just had an easy day in.

We could get the entire room in the shot!

This is the view outside the patio

That fountain looks rather grand on film when actually in truth quite derelict.
Balboa park advertised Easter Lilies as a MAJOR draw at the Botanical garden on Sunday. I did an "OH MY GOD EASTER LILIES" and we went.

I seriously was standing right next to this tree

This photo and the one above this one has the same subject.

A Whole Canyon

We are getting closer to those Easter lilies.

This was at the Japanese Friendship Garden

I don't look awful! thats just the distortion

By this time we learned to reduce the F-stop and shoot from low angles.

I quite like the distortion, but this shot is very obviously a fisheye.

It was difficult to keep the lens from flaring.

This shot would have been NOTHING without the fisheye.

We wanted at least one shot of the ocean with the lens so we stopped by the Maritime Museum since we were downtown anyway.

This is the Star of India

I think these next photos are the most beautiful. Alex went outside to take some shots while I slept from the already full weekend.

I'm not a runner, am I?
