On My Radar... October

October Wish List

Even after a spendy end of summer, I am noticing there are quite a few lingering items on my to-get list. Oprah says that your dreams can become a reality with the help of dream boarding, so I put together this collage to visualize what I want to save my hard earned money for.

1) A speedlight, perferably a sb-900
If you've been following the 30 photoshoot speedlight challenge, you know that I laid out a path in my life to allow myself to own another speedlight.

2) A classic brown satchel from the Cambridge Satchel Company.
I've been eyeing the kate spade essex satchel ever since Ebay invited me to an 'exclusive' kate spade sale. When I saw the Cambridge Satchel company selling the same style at a lower price, with more color options, and a heritage that didn't scream middle class privilege, I immediately kept my ears perked for sales. I hear those brits don't really have sales like we do, though.

3) A Carabiner to hold my chalk bag, and the general will and energy to climb
I need to improve my climbing kit, as well as my climbing mind and my climbing body.

4) Vasque climbing boots.
I've been enjoying these lovely monday night hikes with people that don't mind that I've been exercising my shutter just as much as I've been exercising my body.

5) A Nikon d7000 Camera Body
It is incredibly hard for me to justify buying another camera. I keep coming back to the notion that laying down a thousand dollars for a d7000 early in my photographing career would help me learn faster. However, the d5000 I have been currently sporting only has 31k actuation on it. This website is telling me that I probably have closer to 200k activations before it dies. But Rockwell says the images come out better! Its a luxury, and one that I'm not sure I deserve.

6) A 35mm F/1.8 Prime Lens
I love the look of those low f stops. I especially think my food photography would benefit from this cutie prime lens.

7) Prana Elena Skinny Climbing Pants
All the cool kids in the crag are wearing them, and I'm tired of looking like I just got out of yoga.

8) A new tripod, maybe even a manfrotto tripod
Maybe its all the craigslisting lately, but I've had a hankering for a tripod upgrade. The ones I have now weigh less than a pound and fall over crappily with every movement.

9) An iPhone 5s.
My smartphone right now is so bad that its been severing relationships with people that just can no longer tolerate my dropped calls and cross textin'. I mean, I tried to get an iPhone on Launch day, but it was such a rigamarole that I ended up with a promise which turned into an extended wait.

In terms of priority, man I want that d7000.
