The New Nickel City

The Nickel City near our house closed. Suddenly our access to pinball machines diminished rapidly. It turned out that they moved house to a much larger space in Miramar. We took 10 dollars and had a full evening of intense competitive pin ball action. It was exciting that there were 3 pin ball machines we have never seen at the new location.

The best pin ball machine at Nickel City is the Indiana Jones Machine. It is smooth, not glitchy, has the easiest accessible special modes, and is the most forgiving when it comes to carelessly lost balls.

I quite enjoyed the "diner" pinball as well. It was really a high quality setup. I thought the colors were very pleasing and the sound really not that intrusive at all. I thought it was the most beautiful of the pinball machines. It unfortunately was not so forgiving, and our dollar didn't go as far on this machine as it did on some of the others.

The southpark game was awful and definitely the worst Nickel City has to offer.. It was unfortunately placed in such a place that the glare made it hard to see the top of the field, but that was out of everyones control. It was incredibly glitchy, and cartmans voice is not the one you want on repeat when something goes wrong. It was annoying. The glitches also lead to some unintentional multiballs which I thought was really neat until the game froze my flippers when it detected the glitch. I don't think I should have been punished for thier mistake. It was infuriating.

The WWF game was super duper fun even though I am not a wrestling fan by any means. The sound was a little annoying because the word rumble was uttered every several seconds. The cool part tho, was that the whole machine rumbled every once in a while. It added to the excitement to feel the vibration in my hands when trying to focus on the multiball action. The skill shot was also a lot more centrally located than any of the other games, which made it much easier. Normally, though, like with the Indiana Jones game, you only need to make the skill shot 3 or 4 times. In the WWF game, the skill shot had to be made 8 times, which got tiring after a while. Its not fun seeing someone make the skill shot 8 times in a row either.

I had so much fun critsizing the pinball options that I feel like I should try to learn the lingo and try to be a full on reviewer. I had a fun time reading other reviews that people had about pinball editions as well.
