The 2016 San Diego Bay Parade of Lights

We went to the 44th Annual Parade of Lights this Sunday, December 20th. It was the first time I have ever been to the parade of lights despite living in San Diego for over 10 years. I had a blast.
Some of the boats were impressive. I noticed that smaller boats were easy to decorate because there was less real estate to fill. Still, some of the larger ones were chock full of dizzying displays. My favorite displays were the ones that had member participation. Some people sang, some people hula'ed. Even if they just waved I had a grand time. I wanted to be supportive of these peoples festive hobbies! It was sweet of them to take the time to set the tone for my Christmas, and I really appreciated it.

I tried to take photos of my favorite boats:

This one was sweet because even though it was small, they had a little family of Carolers on board.

The man with the light lei  was waving a whole lot. The theme this year was international peace.

This one cracks me up. They made up thier boat like it was a gondala, and even the oar lit up.

This boat was the best in my opinion. It seemed to be painted with UV paint and  the volcano in the back spewed brightly colored smoke. There were people in hula costumes dancing on deck. It is so creative and it really displayed a mastery of concept and execution. It was impressive.

This boat was notable because of how subtle it was compared to the other boats.

They are caroling!

This boat was just so CUTE. I could barely stand it. They came out with a speed boat and a tiny Eiffel tower.

This guy entertained us with his dancing and falling around. The parade participants are having fun too.

I think this photo is so precious because they have a string of lights and the whole family is waving. It

I can't wait to go next year!
