It was so much fun visiting the Scripps Birch Aquarium La Jolla today. Alex had a hankering for it and I found it to be a relaxing contemplative past time. I had a bit of trouble getting the autofocus to work through the glass, but I think one or two worked out nicely.
Apparently moon jellyfish are harmless to humans. I had no idea. I thought they could get ahold of your face and sting it off.
These suckers are the ones I was thinking of, I think.
This cute fishtank mimiced what the pier is supposed to look like underwater. Isn't it funny to think about all of these things as fishtanks.
A "lion fish"
We went over to la jolla cove for perhaps a quick dip. The cove as crowded with fourth of july tourists, but there were suspiciously few people in the water.
Swimming didn't look too appetizing when I noticed that the beach was covered with thousands of tiny red crabs. I read about it, and it turns out this is one of the side affects of warm beach water as a side effect of el nino. It felt like a side effect of the end times.
That didn't deter some from swimming, though.
There were also some seals that were totes comfortable with peeps just hanging out on the shoreline like complete tourists.
And we can't forget that its almost the fourth!
My little staycation is about to come to the end, and I am glad I made it to the beach for even a little bit.
