Miramar Lake Run: 10 miler!


Buffy was so cute and excited to see me at the finish.
My training plan for the San Diego Rock 'n' Roll Marathon had me run a 10 miler today. To accomplish this I decided to run around 5 miler lake miramar twice. It was extremely painful. I am really feeling the effects of resting that one week when I pulled muscle surfing.


 Around the 7.5 miler mark I hit a wall. I slowed down to about 14 minutes/mile and started dredging through.  To recover I drank a bit of water and had a few almonds. I took a shower and fell asleep with wet hair on the couch. Alex got me a freezer bag full of ice and I robotically tied it to my butt. Nike should find a way to make ice diapers look dynamic and professional. It must have really helped because I can walk around like a normal person and not like I was rode hard and put away wet.

Running Lake Miramar was quite a trip.  There were so many other runners that it felt like I was running an organized race. There was no place to park and it was difficult to get through groups of people who walked 3 and 4 abreast. People were loudly commenting on other people's work out gear. It had all the failings of a popular race but none of the benefits. I couldn't even listen to music because Lake Miramar gets such poor signal that my 3G won't let me play pandora.

What a great time to get those active gearup compression socks! I think they'll be here today, just 4 hours later than perfect.
