Lake Tahoe Ski Trip Day 4: Skiing is Terrifying

Alex and I on the lift. So happy!

The video is of me skiing. Its hilarious because I am going so incredibly slow and so are the five people around me.  Its the bunny slopes! what else are you going to do.

The Big Easy Lift
We embarked early this morning. The mountain concierge already had our equipment from yesterday so we just strolled into the ski valet, strapped on our equipment, and headed down the slopes. I had a good 8 or 9 runs down the Big Easy before we decided to get more ambitious. At 11:30 am we decided to go down Lumberjack, the easiest green dot they had. It was far too hard and steep. I wiped out 3 legitimate times. I think I hurt my right leg really bad. At the time, I wasn’t sure whether or not I broke it. I decided to keep skiing once I realized I could stand on it, but it was too late. At that point, I was already exposed to the fear of god.

My friends tell me that I still did it, even if I fell.  I seem to have bruises on my back where I rubbed against the snow. So worth it.

I closed that place down, going down the big easy for the rest of the day until the lift closed.

Casey Looking Rad on her Snowboard.
Casey did a bang up job today. She took an early morning lesson on the snowboard and started rocking it all day. She did excellent. She looks like a hundred times more cool than I do (see video above).
The bruise on my left side.

Alex and I went to The Lodge at the bottom of the big easy for lunch/dinner to share a veggie burger. (Its incredibly expensive to eat around here, so we’ve been doing our best to be realistic.)

After more loosening spa time, we went back to the room and played an exhausted board game with our friends. The front desk had Harry Potter Clue, and I thought it was quite fun.

Harry Potter Clue
I am so enamored with the idea of skiing. We did some research and found that Mt. High is only 2.5 hours away from San Diego and would be pretty damn realistic to do on a weekend sometime this season. And if we are going to be able to pursue this hobby more, we should get our own gear…

Casey told me that she KNEW I would love skiing. I asked her why and she said that she has never known me to meet exercise I didn’t like. She might be onto something there.
