DO NOT BUY Update! Phishing Scam that sell Stella and Dot

I am writing this post because I decided to check up on jewelsgift et al to see if they were up to their old tricks. I was pleased to find that the website was taken down and replaced with an info page for godaddy.

Upon further inspection, it looks like instead of shutting down their entire operation they simply changed domains. They changed to several domains in fact. The domains that these malefactors now occupy are vipjewelrysale.com, jewelsfun.com, Jewelsandgift.com

For purposes relating webcrawling, I will not link to any of the sites I describe. I won't be able to reach anyone at all if google blacklists me under the impression that I am promoting phishing websites.


Don't let them trick you. The websites are scrapes off of the real stella and dot website, stealing all of their content to trick you into giving them your credit card info. I've heard from commentators that they have been ripped off by this operation before. Let me walk you through why each website is a total Scam with a capital s.

Giveaway #1 :  Spelling mistakes are a quick tip off that this is an unprofessional website. Everything not scraped from Stella and Dot is very poorly written.

Giveaway #2 : Several of the icons do not link to anything. This is a dead giveaway that the website was a lazy scraping of the Stella and dot website

Other broken links include links to the twitter page, facebook, instagram, etc. 

Giveaway #3 : The website still refers to itself as Jewelsgift on the shipping page. We know Jewelsgift was a scam because we complained about it previously and they shut down that site.

This particular faction doesn't stop at Stella and Dot, they have knock offs of several brands to include Marc Jacobs and Banana Republic.

Giveaway #1: Spelling/grammer mistakes. Sometimes the spelling mistakes is what convinces me that these are all the same people.

Dead Giveaway #2 : The Norton Secured sign at the bottom of the page is not clickable.

Norton Secured is a security company that, for a small fee, bets its reputation on the legitimacy of a website proudly displaying its symbol. To prevent people from ripping off the company and otherwise deceiving users, they change their symbol every once in a while and updates all of the sourced images automatically. For instance, it used to not say "powered by Verisign" Now it does. Soon it will say "powered by Symantec" They stole an old version and its as plain as day. An additional authenticity failure is how no information pops up when the seal is clicked as symantec assured an real symbol would do.  

 Giveaway #3 : The website refers to itself as Jewelsgift.com on its customer service page.

"Customer Service has and will always be a top priority in jewelsgift.com. We want to answer your enquiries, comments and suggestions as quickly and completely as possible.You can check out our FAQs or contact us by mailing to our customer service : service@jewelsfun.com"

Giveaway 1: the reviews aren't real. The following review is on many pages on that website.

"Oh My God, Yes these were the exact words , that came out of me when I first saw the necklace. I am dying to wear it at for my 5th anniversary dinner."

Giveaway 2: The about page links you to Jewelsfun.com. Jewelsfun is definitely illegitimate due to the norton secured misuse, and thus, this one must be as well.

Giveaway 3: The blog link leads to an empty page. This giveaway proves that the website was a scape of the original stella and dot website.

Do not buy!

Let me know if this expose was useful for you. I am concerned about the fact that this operation didn't shut down after the initial blogpost, that they have too much invested in this scam to just give it up.
