Fair Island Cupie Toque for Breast Cancer

Toque under construction.

I knitted this awesome hat this weekend. I threw the whole thing together with scrap yarn and my very own pattern. This project was prompted by my mother requesting I knit my Aunt a hat for Christmas. She has been plagued by breast cancer, losing all of hair to chemotherapy.  Of course its my pleasure to use my skills to make her life better in even the smallest way, but I didn't have much to go on. When I asked my mom what she wanted, my mom responded, "Make different color." If I interpreted this correctly, I am supposed to make something colorful. I thought a  nice fair isle pattern would be nice opposed to stripes, and this is what I came up with. This hat was knit in the round with different brands of acrylic yarn, notably carons, bernets, and red heart.

Final Hat!
Total project time: ~6 hours. A good chunk of time was spent sewing in ends!

Send me an email if you would like a pattern or more pictures.
