I think I accomplished a lot today. I visited my dentist for the shortest appointment in the world, I visited 4 grocery stores today. I made some more of that excellent gourmet pasta, tamales, and made a big purchase on a whim.
The post blathers on about what I ate today....
I used some more of that amazing pasta that I buy at the farmers market. I finally got a shot to document the company. We use half of a bag for a meal, and its such an amazing treat every time we do. I went to thier website thinking it was a small local operation, but in actuality it seems that they have a presense in almost every state. Also, you can order it online.
So that big purchase I told you about earlier? It was a Kitchenaid mixer!
If you are keeping up with my marathon running then I can announce that I had a mini panic attack when the Rock and Roll Marathon people sent me an email wishing me good luck on my last long run this weekend. How did they know I had a 20 miler planned? I guess its because everyone signed up for this thing has a 20 miler planned this weekend. I just don't feel good about it because my longest run so far was a 16 miler and I ran out of steam at 12 miles on my last long run last monday. I am choking in the final hour like I did before the SATs 8 years ago. Maybe thats my unique super power: choking in the 11th hour. I choke when its go time when everyone else gets ramped up.

I did a little math to pursuade Alex that we should get one. I told him that it would be the equivalent of buying 251 tamales from the farmers market, and we ate 8 tamales yesterday. That means if we make tamales at home, we will have made back the money with 52 tamale-days. I want to say that I would use it to make pasta too, but we would have to eat 200 pasta meals to make it worth it.
I am really spoiling myself lately with these kitchen appliances. It is my birthday month you know. All these big purchases are probably balancing out the money I am saving by not eating out in restaurants.
We made tamales directly after buying it. I didn't get any shots of that because our kitchen becomes a war zone and I was in a rush to finish before exhaustion settled in. It didn't help that we started at 8.
I think something about the tamales doesn't settle correctly in my stomach. I had a huge stomach pang after I ate one from this batch
