I finally finished it. I've always wanted to knit a blanket for realsies. The first blanket I ever knitted was an absolute disaster. I hated it so much that I left it in the garage and my dad used it to mop up oil. This one is much nicer, and it only took me a solid 3 months to do it. Its large enough to cover my queen size bed. I find it absolutely beautiful and comfy to boot.

I used 8 skiens of caron's baby soft. I bought the yarn before I found a pattern, but I've seen chevron patterns in the past so I knew it was at least possible. When I found the pattern over at hipsteaders, it was serendipitous to find that that they used the exact same colors.
Here are some instructions if this is something you wanted to do for yourself
First things first, knit a test swatch using 30 stitches, one unit of the repeating pattern. Even if you used the same needles and yarn, the tightness of your stitches could still potentially change the gauge of the knitting. I used size 10 needles.
The pattern---------------
Cast on 300 stitches.
Row 1: K1, skp, *k13, CO1, k1, CO1, k13, s2kp2; repeat from * to last repeat of 30 stitches, k13, CO1, k1, CO1, k13, k2tog, k1.
***Turn knitting over.
Row 2: K1, p1, *k14, p1; repeat from * to last stitch, k1.
Cast off loosely
Sew in Ends.
End pattern---------------
*** This part is my addition. I am actually not used the turning the knitting over after every single row because I'm a multicolor/fair isle knitter. I messed up the pattern in 2 test swatches because of this
K1 = Knit one
Skp = Skip
CO1 = Carry over 1 Cast on one
S2Kp2= slip a stitch, knit the next stitch, pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch
One skien of yarn lasted two stripes of color. I tried my best to change over lines at the end of a row, but I wasn't always so lucky. Keep your ends long so you have a lot of leeway when sewing in your ends
Easy come, easy go. This achievement wont be mine for long. Like many knitters, I am going to end up giving this away. I need to give an amazing gift soon, and the fact that I made this myself makes it greater than the sum of its parts. Sigh.
Here are a few photos of me and My dog enjoying our blanket while its ours. Don't worry, we are washing it before giving it away.
