Patrick Climbing Craigs Crack (5.9) in Mission Trails Regional Park |
Patrick, Nick, and I hiked up to the highest point at Mission Trails Regional Park to Climb Craig's Crack and the adjacent face climb. Everyone seemed to be busy this fathers day weekend so it was just the stripped down skeleton crew for this climb.

The Reason I couldn't Climb |
I actually had decided that I wasn't going to climb for this trip. I accidentally cut my thumb really bad the day before. I ended up climbing anyway, go figure, splashing blood and guts all over the rock out of complete necessity.

Limited Trad Kit. |
It was a crack climb and I usually can do those no problem, especially a 5.9 one. We didn't have enough gear for both an anchor and the lead climb up so I had to free solo the first half of the climb to retrieve the first piece. It was a good thing that I was there or they would have been SOL.

I got Everybody's Face in this one. |

He Did it! |
This is a really really nice route. Not only is this a perfect hand crack using a 30m rope climb with a belay boulder, it has walk up anchor building spot with a lovely little place to sit. This rock is so perfect it could be a gym climb.

More gear please. |
The rock has beautiful textured granite. These are nice jugs compared to most of the routes in woodson.
As an extra amenity, there are police helicopters in case you need an impromptu rescue. Just kidding, thats not why they are there.
This is one of the best photos I took.
Patrick did a great job climbing this on top rope.
I worked on getting some nice ambiance shots
I feel nice and sore today. I think if I cut down on my salt intake and start hiking with weight, I'll be read for that long hike in San Jacinto in no time.
