10 things lately... wedding planning edition

My entire consciousness lately has been filled with wedding planning and trying to get enough sleep after balancing work, studying, and my volunteer responsibilities. Here are 10 things lately to catch you up on Maria’s Everyday.

1)   We have a venue! We are going to have our wedding at Marina Village in Mission Bay Area

2)   We have a DJ! DJ Michael will be doing the honors. I was so excited about having him after seeing the video of him and Saxophonist Brandon tearing up the dance floor. Everytime I think about his sample I smile inside

3)   I am making our invitations! Alex and I have always liked paper, and the stationary is one of the things I was excited about from the get-go

4)   We have hired a photographer. I interviewed 5 photographer and went with stylish1photography for 3 hours between the ceremony and the reception. I have a feeling that Rodney will do a fantastic job.

5)   Despite having a ton of my vendors picked out, we decided to hire a wedding planner and day of coordinator for the event, a lovely Zaira of San Diego top Events, to help out on the day of. It is going to be tight, and she will hopefully do a lot of the coordination for me.

6)   Ahhh I bought a wedding dress. It was absolutely beautiful. I got caught in the moment, and made a decision I don’t normally. It wasn’t that long ago, maybe a week, but I am already starting to puzzle over my actions in that moment. I hope revisiting that moment isn’t the same as regret.

7)   The food for the event will be Italian food. We are having our favorite Chicago style pizza place ever cater the event from college.  It will be meaningful and delicious. We ate at Regents pizza the other day when meeting with our wedding planner, and it was everything amazing I remember about college.

Other goings on

8)  My first year of Grad School is over. I am taking the long path since I am doing the program in person and only part time. I did well this year, all A’s!, and I am optimistic for the following year. I am just worried I’ll be exhausted by the time the summer of wedding planning is over. I just wish I could take the next semester off.

9) I am volunteering for the Jewish Family Service Center this summer as a photographer. Photography has really taken a back seat for me lately, so its nice that I have an outlet in some way. It is nice that I am doing good for the community in the mean time. I was able to photograph a food drive earlier this week for my first assignment. It didn’t make me feel warm and fuzzy, but I bet my heart will thaw if I keep at it.

10) I am studying for the PMP. I kind of set myself up for it, and I am worried that I am not going to follow through. I have very little time at the end of the day to study, and I am working off a huge sleep deficient trying to stay on top of being the best employee I can at work,  as well as keeping my self and my apartment clean in addition to this stupid wedding planning. Can you tell that the studying isn’t going well? It isn’t going well. My plan was to take this test in august right before school starts. I don’t know if a month and a half is enough time to ace this jazz.  Everytime I feel like I lost control of studying, I think how amazing it would be if I manage to get my certificate after all of wedding planning nightmare.
