Stitchfix #4: Casual Style

I received Stitchfix #4 in the mail yesterday. I've been feeling a bit blah lately, so I wasn't super excited about taking photos of myself. My throat has been sore after a self indulgent weekend, and I have been trying to prevent exercise exacerbated illness by laying on the couch on the weeknights I like to hit the climbing gym.

My stitchfix came and I had to come back to reality. I have to think about how I come off, how other people see me. I can't be just a slob in sweatpants all day!

So if you have never heard of stitch fix before it works like this:

I recieved a dress, a jacket, a pair of pants, a top, and a pullover sweatery thingy.

The stylist left me this nice note.

Its funny how he said I had casual style. Thats a really nice way to say that I have NO STYLE.

1. Florence Colorblocked Dress by 41Hawthorn ($68)

I own a matching hat. I would never wear this hat WITH the dress, that would be too matchy matchy..

The material is supersoft, and the color is reminiscent of the jacket I bought from them two stitchfixes ago. I Just don't like the shape. I like baggy tops, but I've never looked great in the saggy but cinched look. I can always run the risk of looking too boxy, and this sweater makes me look like a big uncool square.

Verdict: Return

2. Roger Asymmetrical Zipper Jacket by Sweet Rain ($78) and
3. Adora Skinny Jean by Just Black ($88)

Here is what the jacket looks like open. Do you recognize the top
I like the jacket, and I hate to say this, I just think its too expensive for what it is. $78? I am having the same to and fro as if it were $12 in the boutique section of goodwill. Its really only so-so.

I sort of like how the back is a tad longer than the front for a bit of a waistcoat feel, but I don't like the doublebreasted front.

And the pants are nice and soft. I wouldn't mind keeping these since I feel like I could wear it to work and not have to think too hard about it. I hate that they don't wow me for almost $100. Also, they are super long. I know I am supposed to hem them, but that would set me back another $100!

Verdict: Maybe?

4. Alicia Arrow Print Front Pocket Blouse by Daniel Rainn ($68)

The sleeves roll up and down. I like the sleeves better down.

Top details. Also, the style card pairs it with a pencil skirt so I try it on with one of those.
I like the color, the pattern, and the shape. It is a bit tight around the shoulders because I have massive climbers shoulders. I like that its daniel rainn. I do not like that as soon as I pulled it out of the box, one of the sleeve buttons fell off. I don't like that I'd be paying so much for a broken item. I do not like that even though it is Daniel Rainn, it is polyester, not silk. I know a lot of stitchfixers have been complaining that clothes you have to dry clean can be a pain in the butt, but silk is just SO MUCH NICER. Silk breathes. Silk moves. Polyester sweats. If you are paying the same amount, why not just get silk?

Verdict: Maybe?

5. Thomsen Striped Pullover Sweater by Elison ($54)

Strike 1: TOO LARGE. Even for my sick bloated self.
Strike 2: HORIZONTAL STRIPES. I already have a hard time wielding my boxy frame
Strike 3: fifty four dollars.

Verdict: Return

So At the end of the day, what do I keep? I am still deciding. I know I completely dislike the Dress and the Sweater. I like the way the arrow print blouse looks in photos and I wouldn't mind keeping the jacket and the pants should I decide hemming is worth my sweet time.

 What do you think?

I am not sponsored by stitch fix. Actually, I am paying them. If you decide this looks crazy fun (which it is!) I think it would be swell if you used my link! They give me referral credits if you do.
