I flew back to Sedalia Missouri on Christmas Day to visit my parents. It is a culture shock for me every single time.
Luminaries are paper bags filled with sand and tea lights. It encourages people to walk their dogs at night and park their cars off the street. It seems like a lot of work.
I flew out the next morning and showed up in Kansas City Missouri at 5pm. My parents had already eaten Christmas dinner so I ate a can of greenbeans like it wasn't even Christmas and I didn't even fly for 8 hours to see my family for the holidays.
We drove around town in the morning so we could meet everyone for coffee at Wendy's. None of the trees had leaves.
Then I had to do errands. My passport expires next month so I to renew it. I am not planning a trip or anything, I just don't want to close that door.
Bing Bing is a service animal so they let her into the post office even though she isn't trained like a service animal.
Then we decided to ride bikes. Daddy rode his custom motorized bicycle stylized as an Indian motorcycle and I rode his dirtbike.
Daddy got it started for me since its been a while since its been rode and since it has a kick start. I am used to a push start motorcycle so I was a little afraid of kick starting a bike thats a tad too tall for me.
Daddy sure has some stylish helmets.
I gave myself quite a fright when the chain popped off. The motorcycle jerked and I thought it was because I had it in the wrong gear. It jerked again when I pushed it back into first. Apparently the first jerk was the chain jumping off and the second jerk was the chain getting unstuck. I started pushing the motorcycle back when daddy found me a block away and reattached the chain.
We spent probably 20 minutes tightening the chain back up. It was nice being outside on an uncharacteristically warm day.
My vacation so far has been mostly driving around, looking at Bing Bing, and working on motorcycles. Still, these photos are a good representation of what it is like to hang out with my dad.
9 more days in Sedalia. Its a long trip.
