1. I have been doing great keeping up with my control
journal lately. Flylady suggests putting together a 3 ring binder with flylady
printouts in plastic sheets so you can write on them temporarily using dry
erase markers. I already have a daily log diary type thing so I have been
printing out weekly goal sheets to paste in my log. Using this goal sheet I
have been able to make time for things I want to accomplish in the long run like
giving myself more time to paint, to read, and practice my accordion.
New Glasses! |
2. New sun glasses. I’ve been on quite an ebay kick lately.
I saw these adorable glasses at the Kate Spade outlet store in Carlsbad. They
were 30 dollars and I didn’t get to the store in time the day they had a 50%
off sale. I was estatic when I found them on ebay for less than the cost I
would have paid during the sale. I love that the glasses are brown with a
tortoise shell pattern. My old glasses were getting quite old and I feel like
rewarding myself for managing not to lose them over this last year.
New Gwen Flats |
3. New shoes. I wear my gold guilded gwen flats on almost
every offwork occasion I can find. They are getting really shabby. These green
ones are the same flattering shape in a more sturdy color. I expected the gold
to come off really fast, but I don’t think it will happen with these leather
green fascades. I think the white bands make it really preppy. As soon as I got
them in the mail, I realized I have nothing else in that color.
What the dress would look like if I had it. |
4. Silk Kate Spade Jillian. I tried to finally buy a Kate
Spade Jililan Silk dress. This happened after losing against my current seller
in a dramatic bidding war with a previous seller at an auction two months ago.
Now I am buying the same dress from my opponanat at a lower cost. Well, I think
she might still be sore about that because it has been 3 weeks and the dress
has not yet appeared in my inbox. This is my first bad experience on ebay, and
it is really souring my experience. I am one of those people that are pained
when they wait for something in the mail. I am borderline obsessed with
updating the USPS page. I haven’t raised too much of a stink with the ebay
seller (although I did open up a case), because I am still excited about having
purchased the dress in the first place. I’ve been stalking this dress on ebay
for more than a year! Here’s hoping it still comes.
5. Sod box. I made a sod box for my dog, Buffy. This has
really improved my relationship with buffs because she doesn’t spend all day
begging for walks, holding it all day, and eventually peeing on the floor. I
think she knows that it hurts her more than it hurts us to be living with a pee
soaked floor. Now, with the sod box, she can go out to the patio and pee
whenever she wants. We still try to give her walks everyday because she gets more
out of them than just having an opportunity to pee, but this has taken the
stress off of me in a big way. I don’t have to worry about her being home alone
for too long. I made it using an
organizing tray and a square of sod from Home Depot. I change out the sod every
two weeks and it has been staying mostly fresh.
7. Rock Climbing Outdoors. I’ve been really bad about
getting to the gym lately. I have been feeling a stomach bug on and off and its
been interfering with my work performance as well as my gym performance. That
being said, I have been getting quite a bit of climbing in this month. I am
glad we are getting some climbs in during the early summer before it gets
scorching hot. Last weekend was 88
degrees. That sort of heat might the cusp of what I can handle, even sitting at
home watching Netflix.
8. Gumdrop earrings. I am starting to stalk these items for
my next purchase. I saw them in the store a few months ago and found them a
tiny big too big. Now, I am thinking that a dramatic pop of color could be
adorable. I really need a pair of earrings too.
I lost one of my previous pair and now I am practically earringless. I
have a bad habit of losing them, and hopefully I can get better about it like I
did about my sunglasses.
9. NOT glamorous. I have been trying to read the book
entitled The history of Glamour but its sort of a nonstarter. The prose is so
dense and clumsy that I can barely get through a few pages before falling
asleep. I don’t like to torture myself with my pleasure reading, so I might
have to put this book down forever. It’s a shame because I am finding the
subject matter quite compelling.
10. Movie Nights with Francis. I have been starting to watch
movies once a week now. I know hanging out on Netflix is sort of my default
state, but I am really getting something out of meeting a friend and picking
out a movie to watch together. So far we have watched Romeo and Juliet (which I
have never really appreciated on a substantial level until now) Muriels Wedding
(which I love even more since watching it with francis) and Dirty Dancing (of
which Francis helped me hanging on every sidelong gaze).
I hope the rest of July and August is just as fun!
